These stickers feature artwork that appeared in underground newspapers in past decades. The image is said to have been inspired by the burning of San Francisco police cars during the White Night riots in May of 1979. The uprising erupted in response to the lenient sentencing of a city Supervisor and former police officer who had assassinated Harvey Milk and George Moscone. In the aftermath, authorities demanded that leaders of the gay community apologize for the violence and destruction, but they staunchly refused.
